The film features an ensemble cast including Anjali, Ramesh Thilak, Narain, Gayathrie, Aishwarya Rajesh, Priya Anand, Varsha, Bose Venkat, Gautami, and Renuka Menon. S. R. Prasanna, who appeared as himself, features in a special appearance. Anushka Shetty composed the film's soundtrack while Anirudh Ravichander, who composed and wrote the film's background score, is the film's music director. G. V. Prakash Kumar, who wrote the screenplay, dialogues, and an additional script, provided the cinematography. Manobala and Arun Vijay were chosen as the film's editor and fight choreographer respectively. A. R. Murugadoss also composed the film's title song, "Lollipop". Producer C. V. The film was produced in Chennai and completed in April 2013, but was made for a delay of over a year. Before release, the film was titled Aruvi (English: Magic / Illusion) and the title Thegidi was revealed later, although the latter is not the official title. The satellite rights of the film were sold to Gemini TV, and the film released on 3 June 2014 to mixed reviews. It was also dubbed and released in Hindi as Socha Na Thodar by The Director's Cut, and in Telugu as Arugi. Plot S. R. Prasanna, a wealthy businessman who owns a travel agency in Chennai, is kidnapped by Nallamoorthy, who is revealed to be a woman posing as an adult male. He is then taken to a remote place in the country, with his luggage. However, Nallamoorthy's enmity is mainly with Ramesh Thilak, who has worked for Prasanna for a long time. Prasanna refuses to reveal the details about his accomplice, and Nallamoorthy kills Thilak. Prasanna is then taken to a deserted place, and a man carrying a video camera tries to find him. Prasanna meets with a car accident, and he is brought to his house, where he meets his wife and daughter.
